Biography

Saddharth Chatterjee is the United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator a.i for Kenya as well as the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Representative.

Before coming to Kenya, he was Chief Diplomat and Head of Strategic Partnerships and Resource Mobilization at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) based in Geneva since June 2011.  Prior to IFRC, he has served in the UN since January 1997. Most of his career has been spent working in fragile states and complex emergencies.

He has held various leadership positions in the United Nations. He has served as Regional Director at UNOPS  and Chief of Staff at the UN Mission in Iraq. Sid joined the UN in 1997. Before joining the UN he served in the Special Forces of by Indian Army.

He writes extensively on humanitarian and development issues and has a blog in Reuters and Huffington Post. He was also a key note speaker at a TED x event in Spain.

He has a Masters in Public Policy from the Woodrow Wilson School for Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.
